If I had the time, I’d currently be working on the new layout I’ve been contemplating. Before I got stuck into my ICT GCSE*, I was fiddling with Adobe Illustrator (love love love love love). I’m not even close to figuring out half of the tools yet, but I was still pretty chuffed with what I achieved and wanted to make it into a layout. I had an idea in my head but, typically, it’s a bit funny so coding it isn’t quite a piece of cake. I’ve been using this article from the ever wonderful A List Apart but sadly it’s all a little too good to be true and I’ve been struggling to get it working consistently in all browsers (damn IE!). I’m thinking of trying an alternative approach as I don’t technically need three columns, but it’s going to involve an awful lot of padding! Sadly time is not on my side; I go back to school next Thursday and I’m only just over half way through the part of my GCSE I’m doing. Ho hum!
I finally upgraded to Wordpress 2.6.1 and love the preview feature the theme panel offers - about time!
In other news, Truffle’s having her teeth de-scaled tomorrow which means she has to go under general aesthetic. Cue some very panicky owners and a very sorry looking Truffs! Fingers crossed she’ll be just fine!
*I realised from a comment by Colleen on one of my recent posts that not everyone knows what a GCSE is. That would have been an obvious fact to most, but I am a little slow at times! To clear this up, GCSEs are exams usually taken by English school slaves in year eleven (the school year in which they turn 16). How many you do ranges dramatically depending on a variety of factors meaning that some uber-bright-super-nerdy people leave school with 16 (mad) and some leave with 5 or less. Average is around 8, 9 or 10 (I guess). As I’m a computer geek (heck, a vague interest in HTML would class you in this category) I’ve been offered the chance to take ICT (information communcation technology a.k.a using word/excel/publisher/access) a year early, but I need to do most of the first year’s work before I go back to school in September, hence the lack of updates.
